“Día de los Muertos” themed exhibit call for artists.

The BigPicture Gallery is seeking artists to show their art in a “Día de los Muertos” themed exhibit opening October 2019. This is open to local New Mexico and west Texas artists with work completed during the last 5 years. We are accepting paintings, photography, multi-media, small to medium sculpture, and jewelry. The deadline for submission is September 16th.  The exhibit will have an opening the 17th of October and be on display until the end of November. The details are listed below.


Theme: “Día de los Muertos”

Deadline: Monday, September 16th; 5 pm. Artists who are accepted will be notified the by September 17.

Fee: If accepted there is a flat $5 hanging fee at drop off per artist.

Work Media: paintings, photography, multi-media, small to medium sculpture, and jewelry

Work Size: 36” for wall hanging art; sculptures must fit on a 14” x 14” pedestal or have a foot print of 2’x2′

Entry Requirements: Send good quality photos of your art to 123@bigpicts.com before Sept. 16th along with your Name, phone number and email, title of art, and dimensions. If accepted art must be ready to hang or display on day of drop off and be for sale.

Timeline: Drop off at gallery October 1st; exhibit opening October 17 and art will be on exhibit until November 30th.

Delivery: October 1, 10-5pm

Reception: October 17, 5-7pm

Exhibit or Event Ends: November 30

Pickup: December 2-6, 10-5pm

Sales: Artists set their own price; the gallery will add 30% commission. The gallery will pay the artists 30 days after the sale.

Acceptable Art

​The BigPicture Gallery acceptable art criteria insures that: a) artwork is properly protected; b) the customer is satisfied with the quality of his/her purchase; c) the gallery is a welcoming space for all ages including patrons with children c) the gallery maintains its reputation as a professionally managed fine art gallery; and d) the gallery can accommodate the number of pieces accepted for each call to artists.

 Artwork must be suitable for all ages.

The BigPicture Gallery reserves the right to refuse to accept any artwork.

Framing, Hanging, & Size Requirements


Each piece must be no more than 36″ on any one side, including the frame.


All work must be ready to hang or display on date of drop off.


Matted work must be framed with glass or plexi-glass.  Metal frames should have hardware that screws securely in the track (no sliders).   Gallery wrapped canvas (without a frame) is acceptable, stapled on the back with clean or painted sides.  Wet paintings will not be accepted.




The show kicks-off with a public reception on October 17th from 5-7pm,  Exhibiting artists are encouraged, but not required, to attend and meet patrons, network with other artists, and discuss their work.



We submit local and regional press releases, lists show details on our website, use social media, and include show information in e-blasts sent to our subscribers.  Artists are also encouraged to help spread the word. We reserve the right to photograph, reproduce or use an image of artwork in promotional materials.


Artwork Protection

We are not responsible in any way for the loss, damage, disappearance or harm of any kind to an artist’s work. It is recommended that all artists insure their own work(s) for the duration of the show.  The artwork will be on display in the print shop gallery which I supervise at all times and Jewlery will be displayed in locked case.
